I am a biosystems engineering student at the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg. During my Bachelor’s thesis, I investigated the orexinergic system for the first time. The focus was on examining the influence of circadian stressors, namely shifts in the light-dark rhythm and unexpected light exposure during the dark phase, on the orexinergic system and contextual fear memory retrieval in nocturnal mice. Additionally, we were interested in the activation and connectivity of the prefrontal cortex, supramammillary area, nucleus reuniens and hippocampus. Currently, I am pursuing to explore these topics during my Master’s thesis based on viral tracer and RNAScope experiments.
